Contemporary mottled calf, somewhat worn, gilt spines, speckled edges. Vol. III-IV partly dampstained in upper margin, some minor foxing. Bookplate of Roberto Moreno. 4 volumes.

Second edition of the very rare original work, published 1788-1795, a reissue of different articles written and edited by Creole polymath Alzate y Ramirez (1737-1799) that appeared primarily in the original "Gazetas de literatura de Mexico", but here augmented with some other material. With Siguenza y Gongoras important map of the Valley of Mexico.
