Hoseyn´s The Shining Star Canopus

Original binding in walnut brown sheep, worn, cover with gilt border and central decorative stamp, spine decorated in gilt with the same stamp in four compartments, somewhat warped covers. Damaged inner doublures. About 5 leaves damaged in upper outer corner. Some marginal browning.

Hoseyn´s best known work, written in 1504. It is a version of the story of Kalïla va Dimna in the highly artificial style favoured in his day. Hoseyn was a Persian poet of the herat Circle.
