(5, including engraved extra title), vi-xiv, (2, Directions to the binder and Errata), (1)-609, (1 blank) pp. Engraved frontispiece and extra title with engraved vignette by Phiz (H. K. Browne, some foxing, title mended in lower outer corner), 41 engraved plates (all, incl. 1 extra, partly foxed, 10 harder, 2 by Buss , 6 by Seymour, 4 unsigned and the rest by Phiz [H. K. Browne]).
Contemporary black half calf, worn, mended in the joints, new inner doublures and endpapers, gilt spine in six compartments, some mendings at head and foot, marbled edges. Partly some foxing, mostly in the inner margin.
First book edition. Plates in a mixed state.
Frontispiece in later state, title dated 1837. Page 25 with signature "E", the "F" in "OF"imperfect in the headline on p. 432.
