Small 8vo. 129 x 85 mm. 366, (2 blank) pp. 2 folding engraved maps, 2 mounted black and white photographs. Plain blue contemporary cloth. First map with tear at hinge, only marginally affecting print.
The first edition was published in 1861. This, the second edition, was the first to be illustrated with original photographs. Those are 1) a view over the Bay of Naples and 2) the ruins of the Forum.
