In a nineteenth Century English gilt and ornate frame

A study for a larger portrait. The frame is not the original frame and has been adjusted on the back to fit the picture. This was done already in the nineteenth Century which is witnessed by the fact that the oil paint covered by it is of a darker shade due to less exposure to light.
