MARIANA ALZAMORA (b.1948), "Pandoras vessel", 2020,(handcoiled vessel), terrakotta, signerad undertill, höjd 31 cm.

Mariana Alzamora, born in USA in 1948, and raised in Lima, Perú, returned to Ann Arbor, Michigan. She studied art at the University of Michigan, and in search of her own expression, traveled to Europe, Amsterdam, London, Paris and Florence and settled in Lindos, on the Greek island of Rhodes. Having travelled and lived between Peru, United States, Greece, Great Britain, Costa Rica and Mallorca, her evolving sensitivity is reflected in a variety of mediums and techniques on silk, clay, canvas, paper, etchings on copper. Recently, Sweden´s light, vast skies, water and seasonal colors have inspired a series of paintings, and from granite ground and smoothed by glaciers clay, with coil technique, formed a series of Pandora´s Vessel, "The Womb Where Hope Remains.
