Handcoloured engraved map with large cartouche with animals, and with a large inset map " Vergrößerte Charte der gegend um die Capstadt" and a small view "Aussicht von der Kapstadt, der Festung, dem Teufelsberge, dem Tafelsberge und dem Löwenberge". C. 540x560 mm.
Rolled and cut within platemark.
Only a few copies of this map are known to have survived.
Forster (a naturalist) visited the Cape of Good Hope briefly together with Cook in 1772 and 1775. He also recruited Anders Sparrman as his assistant on the voyage.
