3 engraved title leaves with vignettes, 5 engraved full-page portraits (all), 24 partly folding engraved maps and plates (all), many fine engravings in the text, like 45 initials, 87 engravings, vignettes, and 215 engravings of coins (2 portraits stained to lower part in vol. I, vol. II with dampstains, some plates browned, some dampstaining and / or foxing).

Contemporary brown full calf, richly gilt spines in seven compartments with title label and red edges, partly worn and rubbed, corners bumped, vol. II and III with damaged upper spine, vol. III also with partly damaged lower part of spine, vol. III with partly split inner joint. The gilt super exlibris of Thore Virgin on boards. Text partly with some staining, dampstaining and / or foxing.
Owner´s label of professor Joh. Henr. Schröder on inside of cover together with Thore Virgins signature and blue label. Note on flyleaf: "Inköpt på bokauktionen efter framl. prof. J. H. Schröder i Upsala... Berndt Kallenberg, Christianstad 10 maj 1866".

Probably lacking printed titles.
First German edition, translated by J. H. Heubel. This German translation is much expanded compared to the Swedish original from 1740.
The portraits are engraved by Fritsch and others and depicts amongst others Charles XII, Gustav III and the author. One of the engraved vignettes is the oldest known Scandinavian picture of a working printing office.

Plates and maps from Hamburg, Riga, Stralsund, Thorn, Narva, Tönningen, Penemünde, Rügen, Tondern, Traustadt, Pultusk, Clissow, Warschau und Kalisch and also Holstein und Norwegen.
