4to. 260 x 210 mm. XII, 457 pp. With 7 engraved plates and 6 folding, partly hand-coloured, engraved maps mounted on linen. Brown later half calf with gilt spine, raised bands, red label and marbled boards. Some foxing and minor stains. 2 plates badly foxed. Stamps of Bradford library.
Thomas Thomson (1773-1852), Scottish chemist. His main topics are mineralogy and mining, but he takes interest in other matters as well, e. g. the British misconception of the former Swedish king Gustav III.
