Small 8vo (140x85 mm.). (4), 384 pp. Title page with small woodcut.
Fine dark blue full morocco, boards with gilt bordure, richly gilt spine and gilt title in compartments, gilt wide inner dentelles, inner doblures with marbled paper (stamped Duru 1857).
The work was forbidden in France. At least three different editions were printed, some illustrated.
Roger de Rabutin, Comte de Bussy (1618-1693), most famous for his "Histoire amoureuse des Gaules". He was sent to the Bastille in 1665 for having offended members of the royal family in his writings.
