Stockholms Auktionsverk presents Johan Wallin Collection for Art for the Globe

Art sets the stage for a sustainable future as Stockholms Auktionsverk hosts the charity auction Johan Wallin Collection for Art for the Globe. The theme for the 2025 edition is birds, with 28 works auctioned to benefit the Art for the Globe Foundation. Among the highlights are the painting Samtal med uv (Conversation with an Owl) by Karin Mamma Andersson, the self-portrait Fågelsemester (Bird Vacation) by Hans Wigert, the sculptures Fågel (Bird) and Vilande fågel (Resting Bird) by Evert Lindfors, as well as works by Ernst Billgren, Torsten Renqvist, Lars Jonsson, Lennart Gram, and Ilon Wikland.

The Art for the Globe Foundation was founded in 2023 by physician Johan Wallin with the aim of raising awareness about the planet’s precarious state and mobilizing change for a sustainable world through culture. The foundation supports artists, musicians, writers, and other humanists who use their words, images, or music to make the complex subject of sustainability more tangible.

The foundation’s mission is to generate financial resources for a sustainable planet, including awarding one of Sweden’s largest cultural prizes annually—up to one million kronor—to a recipient who raises awareness of climate change from a humanistic perspective. The foundation’s funds come from Johan Wallin’s extensive art collection, which will be gradually auctioned off through a series of curated themes.

In short, this is a concrete example of how art can create the conditions for a sustainable future.
